Abstract

The subject of analysis in this article is the resource aspect of the balance of opportunities for men and women in the process of adaptation to a changing environment. The relevance of developments in the field of analysis of adaptation resources of various categories of the population as a whole increases as countries go through recent crises, and the relevance of the aspect chosen by the author grows with the expansion of opportunities for women to participate in all areas of functioning and management of social life. The analysis is based on the concept of adaptation as a process of interaction between a person and the macroand microenvironment in order to improve well-being, safety, and life satisfaction in general. Adaptation resources seem to be the main factor determining the level of vulnerability to transformations and uncertainty. The purpose of the analysis in the article is to identify the presence or absence of inequality in the composition of the available resource adaptive potential of men and women. The specific task is to assess the availability, identify differences and the level of sufficiency of a number of resources for men and women in terms of solving a practical life task: adaptation to the environment in order to ensure personal, family, social and psychological well-being. The study, the data of which is used in the article, presents three types of resources: natural (both innate and acquired); subjective and personal; environmental. The empirical base is the data of the 27th wave of the Russian monitoring of the economic situation and health of the population; the surveyed population is 9835 people aged 18 years and older. Adaptability was determined by such indicators as the ability to adapt in situations of uncertainty (adaptability), high subjective assessments of social well-being, and high life satisfaction in general. The analysis showed almost the same level of adaptation of men and women in a changing environment, which in turn led to the need to establish what resources it is provided with. The analysis revealed two groups of resources for which there is a difference in the degree of sufficiency: social security and rationality as a way of interacting with the environment. An in-depth analysis also revealed specific indicators for which there is a significant difference, nevertheless ensuring an equal degree of adaptation in a changing environment. Such results are interpreted as the presence of positive differences, rather than as an inequality of adaptation resources. In the future, it is advisable to conduct a targeted study on small samples in order to analyze in more detail the practices of using those resources for which differences have been found.
