Abstract

The material is devoted to the actual problem of preservation of cultural heritage. Protection and development of cultural heritage is one of the priority tasks of the state policy of all states. In Russia new objects are created, old ones are restored and reconstructed, perpetuating the memory of the events, participants and victims of the World War II. Analysing the results obtained in federal surveys conducted by the Russian Society of Sociologists allows us to learn about the attitudes of young people to topical issues, including the preservation of cultural heritage. In the fourth wave of the project Student Attitudes to the Great Patriotic War, questions about monuments, their preservation and demolition in foreign countries were added. Students from different regions assess the attitude of the Russian government to preserving the memory of the feat of arms of the peoples of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War. The sociological study Cultural heritage and the link between generations conducted in MarchMay 2022, dedicated to the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage also studied the reaction of students to the demolition of monuments of World War II abroad, vandalism in relation to them. The information about the demolition of monuments, vandalism in relation to them in the countries of the former Soviet Union was systematised.
