Abstract

The article presents the results of a sociological study among students of higher educational institutions of Nizhny Novgorod, in which an attempt was made to find out their attitude to manifestations of extremism and terrorism in the Nizhny Novgorod region and Russia as a whole. The analysis of the obtained results led to the conclusion that more than half of the respondents understand the socio-political danger of extremism and terrorism, condemn them and are ready to assist the institutions of the state and civil society in countering the manifestations of extremism and terrorism in Russia. At the same time, it turned out that a certain part of the student youth is inclined to support extremist youth organizations operating on the territory of Russia, or not directly condemning such activities. Based on the results of the study of the attitude of students to the manifestations of extremism and terrorism, it is concluded that it is necessary to carry out systematic educational and educational work among secondary schools students, secondary specialized and higher educational institutions aimed at preventing manifestations of extremism among young people. It was also found out that within the framework of similar sociological studies, students regularly raise the question of strengthening legal responsibility for crimes of an extremist nature and terrorist orientation.
