Abstract

The article focuses on the reception and reaction to the Western project of liberal modernity in contemporary Russia’s political discourse.  Diverse reflections and evaluations of the Western-type democracy contribute to the articulation of Russia’s post-Soviet version of the modernity project. The paper considers civilizational analysis and associated multiple modernities theory as a promising theoretical framework for the comprehension of the post-Soviet interpretation and experience of modernity.
