Abstract

The article reveals and discusses some still unresolved issues of modern sociological theory including the Russian one. These issues are the following: (1) a nature and forms of transition from the Third industrial revolution to the Fourth one under conditions of growing overall resource deficit and the rise of social conflicts and hybrid wars (i.e. the issue of the ‘in-between state’ or the ‘interregnum period’ according to A. Gramsci and Z. Bauman); (2) an opposition of a technocratic and humanist approaches to the above issue; (3) an issue of social time transformation, that is the issue of the processes of permanent acceleration of ongoing transformations in all spheres of social life and a feedback to them from the side of their environment; (4) a development of interdisciplinary approach and forms of metabolic processes between social agents as well as between them and their natural, social and man-made environments; (5) a changing nature of global social order and its institutions; (6) a necessity of new methods of collection and processing information related to the above transformations; and some related issues; and (6) a need of dynamic sociology. The article concluded with a set of critical notes related to an existing archetypes, methods and forms of sociological thinking.
