Abstract

The Chapter discusses the main results and lessons of the October revolution for the development and modernization of modern Russia. It is shown that many goals and objectives of the post-revolutionary Soviet development project (for example, a sharp reduction in social inequality, the creation of one of the world's best education system, affordable health care, the state system of science and technology) remain relevant in today's Russia. It was noted that the Soviet modernization project was further developed and continued in such rapidly developing countries as China, Vietnam, India. The most important directions of use of the post-revolutionary Soviet experience in Russia at the beginning of the XXI century are outlined: 1) implementation of large-scale projects of economic and social development in the Russian regions; 2) restriction of commercialization of education, health care and science; 3) real fight against poverty and reduction of huge social inequality; 4) elimination of new illiteracy among young people in the sphere of Russian language, history, literature, geography, physics, chemistry, biology; 5) intellectual, cultural, social, ideological and political mobilization of different groups of Russian citizens for the preservation and development of society and the state.
