Abstract

In the past two decades, the emergence of a civilizational analysis as a new paradigm of world historical sociology took place. Within the framework of this approach, the relational direction stands out, the leading representative of which is J. Arnason. The interest in civilization analysis in the Arnason version has been shown in the works of Russian researchers since the beginning of the 2010s. At present, the ideas of this sociologist are used in comparative historical research, in particular, modernization processes in Russia and Latin America.
