Abstract

The article deals with one of the urgent problems of modern sociology – the social structure of society. The sources of actualization of this problem in modern conditions are shown. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the circumstances of the emergence of a new layer - temporarily employed wage workers. The impenetrable significance of the scientific definition of classes is revealed and the present state of the main classes of Russian society and the layer of modern intelligentsia is described from these positions. In conclusion, the most important areas of research on the social structure of Russian society are proposed.
