Abstract

The effectiveness of the decisions made in the field of the demographic development of the country is determined by the level of demographic literacy of the persons involved in the development of strategic documents. The underestimation of the role of demographic knowledge and, as a result, the low demographic literacy of officials at various levels and sociologists, economists, regional studies, philosophers, ethnographers and other areas have led to a number of miscalculations in strategic management. It is sad to realize that today young professionals involved in monitoring and planning at the federal and regional levels do not have the necessary competencies in the field of demography, and not only are they not able to competently apply even the simplest demographic tools and methods of analyzing demographic data in their work, but also unable to read/interpret demographic information correctly, which greatly reduces the effectiveness of the measures taken in the field of both preventing demographic threats and the socio-economic development of the country. The attempt presented in the article to comprehend the obstacles and difficulties that arise in the way of mastering demographic literacy by analysts is undoubtedly of great theoretical and practical interest.
