Abstract

The purpose of the research quantitative assessment of the specifics of demographic and socio-economic characteristics of young families with students on the basis of a sample representative of the Russian population and determination of the directions of a specialized sample study of student families. The methodological basis of the research consists of methods of demographic and sociological analysis of the functioning of the family institute, in particular, the concept of the second demographic transition, as well as methods of statistical analysis of sociological data, tabular and graphical visualization of data, calculation of descriptive statistics and statistical criteria for assessing differences in distributions. Research result. Most of the young people receiving vocational education do not yet seek to marry and start a family. The level of marriage of modern Russian students is insignificant, while the actual marriage relationship precedes the official registration of marriage. These studies confirm the relationship between the official registration of marriage and the childhood of families. However, the birth rate in student families is significantly lower than the average for the younger generation, and the lowest level of childbearing is typical for people receiving higher education. Students who get married tend to rely on their own strength, do not count on the help of their parents, prefer to live separately. This indicates a conscious approach to making a decision about starting a family. It is possible to identify a number of problems that a young family faces in the process of life: a difficult financial situation, largely related to the birth of children; housing problems that a young family cannot always solve independently; the initial stage of the formation of a professional career, a combination of family and non-family roles. All this causes the need for state support. The scale of employment of members of student families indicates the need to support young people in the labor market: ensuring student guarantees for employment, expanding the scope of flexible forms of employment.
