Abstract

The materials of the article cover the key aspects of family education. Empirical data show important reasons for choosing family education in Russia, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this form of education. The article presents the results of the authors’ research. The studies were implemented using qualitative and quantitative methodology. It is shown that parents choose family education in Russia as a response to the low quality of school education and the desire to raise a child in the tradition of family continuity. An important advantage of homeschooling is a flexible schedule and free time. The disadvantage is financial difficulties and lack of government support. Homeschooling is a common practice of getting education outside educational institutions in the USA, Canada, Great Britain and other countries. However, homeschoolers are convinced that this form of education cannot be extended to all families. Family education is a conscious choice of parents, only in this case it can be an effective alternative to classical school education.
