Abstract

At present, representatives of science and practice in the field of demography, including the management and researchers of the Institute for Demographic Research of the Federal Research Center for Theoretical and Applied Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IDR FCTAS RAS), teachers of demographic disciplines of higher educational institutions, employees of the Federal State Statistics Service, etc., note the paramount importance of the revival of demographic education. Unfortunately, today, there is no clear and unambiguous understanding of the location of the Russian demographic formation in the system of social coordinates. The purpose of the article is an attempt to comprehend the real situation that has developed in the field of demographic education in modern Russia, as well as to identify priority measures aimed at its preservation and revival, which is of great theoretical and practical interest. Materials and Methods. Generalization of facts, general scientific methods of cognition, analysis and synthesis allowed the authors to present a model of a new demographic formation in Russia (in the light of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin No. 633 dated 08.11.2021 “On Approval of the Fundamentals of State Policy in the Sphere of Strategic Planning in the Russian Federation”). Results. The initiatives being implemented today by the IDR FRC RAS determine the vectors that make it possible to revive demographic education in Russian higher education. The first successful and very important step in this direction is the developed professional standard “Demograph”.
