Abstract

This article was written with the aim of studying the attitude towards the public expression of one's views on acute issues of religious and political life in the Russian Federation, taking into account the ethnic and ideological diversity that has formed during the historical development of Russian society. The study is based on the materials of a mass and expert sociological survey conducted in the republics of the North Caucasian Federal District of the Russian Federation in 2020. The authors tried to give the most complete and varied statements of experts, which made it possible to draw the conclusions presented in the conclusion. In general, it can be noted as a difference in approaches on the part of representatives of various ethnic groups (most of all, they were ready to ban public provocative statements of the Ingush, least of all - Ossetians) and in various situations (teachers and authors of books, on average, were allowed more freedom in expressing unpopular opinion than ordinary protesters), as well as the general trend - people in today's society understand the high role of the influence of public statements on public life, on the structure of society and the state, and are more likely to limit the freedom of expression of unpopular views than to run the risk of spreading ideas dangerous to society.
