Abstract

The interaction between society and its natural environment is the most important factor for the human activity. It is manifested, perceived and evaluated in different ways in different epochs, depending on the type of culture, worldview and people’s actual interests. One of the consequences of the development of world civilization is the deformation of social and natural environment, which threats to the very existence of human being. Re-thinking of the currently dominant basis of social development is becoming an increasingly urgent task. There are needed changes that would allow minimization of the existing risks and threats. This im- plies relevant changes in people’s consciousness, behavior, and way of life, as well as in international relations. This is the essence of the concept of sustainable development. But it has many influential opponents. The Sustainable Development Goals have not yet become a priority in world politics. Heads of state and world leaders must give the world a chance for global security and a reliable and sustainable future.
