Abstract

The authors of the publication present an analysis of modern socio-cultural living conditions of the population of small towns in Russia, show their infrastructure, identify opportunities for active urban communities to participate in self-government, investigate the causes of decline and stop of socio-cultural development of small towns in the country. Within the framework of the theme of the state task Small Towns in the Social space of Russia, this collection was preceded by three published monographs prepared by the Institute of Sociology of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with the divisions of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and regional partners. The book is of interest both for researchers and specialists in sociology and regional studies, as well as for managers and specialists in the field of local self-government, as well as regional and federal authorities.
