Abstract

The analysis of Russians' assessments of Russia's ethno-cultural diversity has shown that attitudes reflecting a positive perception of the multinational nature of the country are gradually gaining weight. Over the past decade (from 2010 to 2021), the share of those favorably assessing the multinational nature of Russia has increased by 18 percentage points – from 34 to 52%. Ethnic identity, due to its close connection with emotions, has a great motivational potential, therefore, the study assessed the relationship of actualized ethnic identity with indicators of interethnic tension and conflict.
