Abstract

The article discusses the results of sociological research on the problems of professional orientation and plans of graduates of Russian universities. As the example the Lomonosov Moscow State university is selected MSU. Here in 2013 a survey Life plans and professional orientation of the graduates was conducted. Based on empirical data, the authors analyze motivations of the MSU graduate students, their views on the future professional activity, their professional plans and criteria they are guided in choosing a job. According to the survey data, the students are highly motivated to get higher education - believing that a university education allows them to get a professional knowledge, making them competitive in the labor market. Plans for the majority of students after graduation are primarily related to the continuing education and obtain higher levels of education. When choosing a job the graduates today are mostly guided by two criteria: the level of salary and career prospects, they are more focused not on the content of activities, but rather on the extent to which this activity can pay for labor costs.
