Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the specificity of the professional identity of young teachers of a large Russian city. Based on the sociological survey of young teachers in Rostov-on-Don, conducted in 2017, it was concluded that the professional consciousness of young teachers is characterized by a high degree of adherence to pedagogical work. Despite the low assessment of the prestige of teachers' work in society, low rates of material support, housing conditions and quality of leisure, young professionals still perform a high level of job satisfaction and loyalty to their school. On the other hand, they fix the negative aspects of school reforms related to the increase in the number of types of workload. Young teachers also have a high level of concern about the risks associated with working life. Therefore, in the structure of social identification of young teachers in Rostov-on-Don, professional identity does not take priority, but competes with worldview communities and those who own everyday communication.
