Abstract

The last chapter is focused on the dividing lines, and threats to social cohesion – both in structural (related to social integration) and dynamic dimension (related to society’s readiness to take up new challenges and maintain time continuity). As such, we ask to what extent the youths problems and social position may reduce this cohesion (what the sources of the biggest threats are), and what is promising in the descriptions of the young generation from the perspective of social cohesion. With this goal in mind, a map has been created to detail the significant social differences and divisions when determining the life chances of the youth (related to the origin, financial status, education, place of residence) of the analysed countries. We also attempt to define the young generation in the context of categories of beneficiaries vs. losers of the political system's transformation. When comparing their mental characteristics, social positions, and the challenges faced by the post-communist countries, we notice many tensions and problems
