Abstract

Using the data of sociological research and referring to the opinions of liberal reformers and their critics, the author raises a number of questions related to the stated topic. What are the social motivations and moral and political positions of the post-Soviet reformers?  How do they differ from pre-revolutionary liberals and why do they prefer Western models of social development? What is the social price of liberal reforms? Is there a way out of the crisis in which they have involved Russia? The article substantiates the conclusion that the effective solution to the problems of poverty, poverty, social inequality is possible only with a radical change of course that meets the self-serving interests of the oligarchic capital and the bureaucratic elite, the policy of protecting the interests of the people.
