Abstract
The article is focused on the main professional associations and unions of engineers in modern Russia. The biggest and the most important union is called Russian Technical Society that was formed in 1866 and could cover a lot of different specialties of this profession. The main tasks of professional associations are analyzed in the article from the modern point of view with the help of the historic and scientific information.
