Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of the influence of the school tradition of Alexandrian Neoplatonism on the theological discussions in Byzantium of the 6th century. In the framework of the Christological discussion of the divine and human natures in Christ, the positions of the supporters of the Chalcedonian oros and its opponents, the miaphysites, clash. The former defended the concept of two natures in Christ, the latter spoke of the unified composite nature of Christ. The article explores the concept of particular nature, proposed in the treatise Arbiter of John Philoponus. John Philoponus represented the camp of miaphysites. The article is devoted to the problem of the influence of the school tradition of Alexandrian Neoplatonism on the theological discussions in Byzantium of the 6th century.
