Abstract

The article reveals the problem of formation of individual subjectivity of young employees in comparison with representatives of older age groups, basing on the analysis of data from the Russian monitoring of the economic situation and health of the population (Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey - Higher School of Economics (RLMS-HSE) for 1994–2017. Individual subjectivity is not considered as a theoretical construct, but as a phenomenon noticed on the basis of a preliminary generalization of a number of empirical facts from previous studies. The purpose of the study is to disclose the content, identify the role and dynamics of the leading manifestations of individual subjectivity of young people in the world of work, including those that positively distinguish young people from older age groups of employees such as higher levels of confidence, labour and professional mobility in employment in the labour market, practice and focus on improving education and qualification, gaining entrepreneurial experience through self-employment. The study results showed that the hypothesis about the predominantly forced nature of the specified manifestations, about their reactivity, and not proactivity in relation to emerging situations, turned out to be valid. The revealed manifestations of individual subjectivity of young employees in the world of work are mostly autonomous, fragmented and do not yet form a holistic phenomenon in the world of work.
