Abstract

The article discusses the concepts and impacts of Coronavirus COVID-19, in this study the key statistics and studies of COVID-19, demography and migration are considered and in this concept the definition and statistics of this pandemic is developing a form to understand the socio-demographic impacts and impact on migration mobility of Iran since it has statistically, suddenly emerged as the principal focus of regional infection for the coronavirus. As the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow, concerns are growing about the effects this will have on certain demographics, especially old generation, migrant workers and many employees around the world. Although so far we know that, the result of this pandemic is depended on age profile of countries and gender, whether and how the pandemic and its economic consequences will affect population dynamics in the future is still unclear and is hardly possible due to data quality, lack of data and timing issues, however, in long run as a result of economic stagnation it is expected to have fertility rate decreased. Moreover, COVID-19 has emerged in a world tightly related to local and international population movements, wealthiest and best-connected countries in the world are affected, and migrants beside the population in the host countries show more vulnerability against this virus and they face additional threats. Findings in this study show that, this virus has stimulated return migration of undocumented Afghani immigrants from Iran to Afghanistan, and it has devalued the currency exchange rate of Iran by more than twenty percent since January 2020, therefore, Iran as one of the main sources of remittances sent to Afghanistan might become less attractive for Afghani labor immigrants.
