Abstract

The discourse of national security, reflecting the destruction of traditional socio-political parameters of the world and uncertainty in areas that previously seemed unshakable, is increasingly appearing in theoretical constructions and instrumental practices. One of these spheres is the spiritual sphere of society, which is associated with the symbolic parameters of the social structure, including the entire range of meanings contained in the concept of “culture”. The value space and unity of the cultural field in such a multi-confessional country as Russia acts as a starting point for social consolidation, allowing us to overcome the accentuation of extremist ideas and practices. In modern Russia the problem of using religious meanings and the potential of religious organizations for the prevention of extremism takes on a special meaning through the prism of the need to ensure cultural and value unity and the imperatives of national security. The article is based on data from expert surveys 2019 and 2020, as a verification of the database is also used strategic documents of the Russian Federation and the data of sociological surveys FSRSC of Russian Academy of Sciences.
