Abstract

The book by P. A. Sorokin «Crime and Punishment, Feat and Reward is the first major work of the 24-year-old scientist. Immediately after its publication (late 1913, with the title-1914), it was highly appreciated by the Russian scientific community as an outstanding contribution to Russian and world sociology. This book, although written almost a hundred years ago, in many ways to this day, has not lost its relevance. Mismatch patterns of behavior (the main cause of crime, according to Sorokin) can help in our time to understand the causes of numerous interethnic, religious and other conflicts. In the appendix, all the critical reviews of contemporaries on the first book of the scientist revealed today are printed.
