Abstract

Siberia and the Russian Far East have been experiencing a deep demographic and socio-economic crisis for more than two decades. Natural decline and outflow of the population, unemployment, harsh climatic conditions, poorly established transport network, high prices for housing and communal services are just a small part of all the existing problems. The need for their solution is acute, since together these two federal districts occupy a significant part of the country’s territory and ensuring socio-economic stability and population growth are already issues of Russia’s national security as a whole. This article analyzes the existing problems in the field of infrastructure development, establishes the relationship between infrastructural and demographic indicators in the regions of Siberia and the Far East of Russia.
