Abstract

In the Report on the Economy of the North - ECONOR 2020 project, prepared by experts and researchers from national statistical offices and academic institutions located in the territory of the member countries of the Arctic Council, within the framework of the ECONOR IV project, which is carried out by the Working Group on Sustainable Development (SDWG) of the Arctic Council, provides a comprehensive overview of the economy of the circumpolar Arctic, including the traditional industrial activities of indigenous peoples. The section of the Report, prepared by Russian researchers, presents a socio-economic analysis of reindeer husbandry of the indigenous peoples of the Russian Arctic, which forms the economic basis of their life and, as a result of denationalization and privatization processes, is carried out today in officially registered peasant farms and private subsidiary farms.
