The empirical basis of the study was a sociological survey of migrants conducted in 2020 by the Center for the Study of Interethnic Relations of the FCTAS RAS (700 respondents). It is shown that the COVID-19 pandemic, on the one hand, physically limited migrants from countries of origin (the inability to go home due to closed state borders), on the other hand, made virtual connections (online communication and remittances) of migrants with their “home” closer compared to the pre-pandemic period.
