The arti- cle demonstrates the features of the socio-demographic portrait of parents who prefer the family form of education. Special attention is paid to the content of the concept of “family education” using dif- ferent methodology. Respondents were not only asked to express their agreement or disagreement with a number of judgments about alternative forms of education that best reflect the essence of the phenomenon under study, in addition, the association method was used. The results of a sociological study show that the choice of family education as an alternative form of education is due to the de- sire of parents to improve the quality of school education and deep- en the knowledge of schoolchildren, as well as educate a child in the tradition of transmitting family values. These aspects are to some extent reflected in the perception of family education by practicing homeschoolers, expressed in the interpretation of family education and its corresponding associations.
