Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the study of everyday life in the 1920–1930s. in the city and rural areas. As a research task, the author identified an attempt to establish the similarities and differences in the leisure life of urban and rural residents. A comparative analysis of the leisure practices of the rural and urban population in the 1920–1930s was carried out. Cultural and leisure forms are considered: reading newspapers, magazines, books; participation in club life; visiting cinema and theater in the 1920s and 1930s. in the city and in the countryside. The author analyzes the works of responsible and foreign researchers, as well as archival materials that characterize changes in the city and in rural areas during the designated period of time. The ar ticle presents data from which we can conclude that the leisure time of city residents was much higher and more varied than that of rural residents. It is concluded that there is a difference in the material and economic situa tion of the city and the village, which influenced the organization of leisure; o preservation of traditional leisure practices in rural areas; as well as about deviant behavior that led to informal forms of leisure.
