The paper actualizes the fact that our country, despite the difficulties it faced both in the Soviet, post Soviet period of its development, and in the 2020s, continues not only to be one of the leading world powers in terms of socio-economic growth, but also one of the centers of confrontation between the policy of the collective West, which is making every effort to preserve the unipolar world order. Particular attention is paid to the characteristics of a number of key historical periods, and the factors of development that determine them. The purpose of the article is to reveal the key approaches to understanding the specifics of sustainable development in Russia. The task of the study is to reflect the features and historical patterns of the country’s development at certain stages.
