Abstract

The article, using the works of foreign researchers as an example, examines various approaches to understanding the role of the phenomenon of «ethnic niches» not only in the integration of migrants in different countries, but also in the formation of positively directed interethnic relations in general. It is concluded that the presence of «ethnic niches» in the economic plane of interaction between people of different nationalities, within the labor market of one sphere (for example, construction), can restrain the formation of a positive trend in the sphere of interethnic relations. At the same time, based on the available data, it is noted that ethnically marked «niche distribution of occupations», when people of different nationalities are represented in different socio-professional spheres (for example, Russians in industry, Armenians in construction, etc.) can often be perceived positively, being the basis for the stability of interethnic relations.
