It manifests itself most vividly during critical periods of development of both the individual and the state. It is proved that education, due to its ontological essence, is a condition for return migration and promotes optimal readaptation of returning migrants. The purpose of the article is to establish approaches to return migration, study the status and attitudes of return migrants, the role of education as a condition for the return of Far-Eastern youth from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region (APR) to ensure adequate planning for the development of the Far-Eastern Federal District in the context of new global challenges. The establishment of interdependent objective and subjective characteristics of the phenomenon under study is implemented within the framework of a systematic, comparative and situational analysis. Interviewing, analysis of cognitive metaphorical models made it possible to identify the position and attitudes of far-east youth living in the Asia-Pacific countries regarding their return to the country of citizenship. It is substantiated that education, due to its ontological essence, is a condition for return migration and contributes to the optimal readaptation of returning migrants.
