The main emphasis is placed on generational differences. Two dominant methodological directions are presented as a theoretical basis: economic and socio- cultural. Also used is the concept of the group identity of the host community, the images of “us” and “others” in matters of nationality and everyday life, described by V. I. Mukomel. The empirical basis of the study is monitoring studies from POF and ACPO, which annually track the dynamics of national relations both throughout Russia and in the regions. In addition, the results of a study by the team of the Southern Russian Branch of the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, conducted in the period 2024–2025in the Rostov Region, are presented. The main results demonstrate the fact of obvious differences in attitudes towards migrants. It can be noted that the younger generation is quite neutral and more favorable to the fact of the presence of a visiting population, but with age, people are more cautious and even skeptical about such people. Possible reasons for such differences were also suggested. Content (in russ)hide table of contentsshow table of contents
