Abstract

Introduction. This article examines the features of citizen science in the field of astronomy in the context of interaction with professional astronomers. Methods. A qualitative sociological study was conducted and 18 interviews with amateur astronomers from St. Petersburg and Kazan were collected. Based on interviews conducted with young amateur astronomers in Kazan and St. Petersburg, four main strategies for the development of amateur astronomer communities have been identified. Results and Discussion. The article notes that the field of civil science and cooperation with professionals in Russia is heterogeneous. There are various models of cooperation in this field, each with its own advantages and limitations. The main difficulty in this context is recognizing the discoveries of amateurs, as well as building a constructive dialogue between professionals and amateurs. Conclusion. The relationship between professional and amateur astronomers is often complicated by issues of scientific legitimacy, the lack of amateur access to professional equipment, and the difficulty of publishing the data in scientific journals. It is important to conduct further research and study the peculiarities of communication and interactions between amateurs and professionals in this field.
