Abstract

The textbook reflects the diversity of methods for analyzing qualitative data — interviews, observations, photographs, online messages, etc. Practicing social researchers talk about the principles of work and personal experience of using such methods as narrative, thematic, network analysis, discourse analysis, grounded theory, qualitative content analysis, text mining. The book consists of three interrelated sections. In the first section, the reader is invited to understand the specifics of qualitative data analysis and navigate the existing methodological landscape. In the second section, the authors show the features of coding and processing data, demonstrate the specifics of working with various software — ATLAS.ti, NVivo, Dedoose, Python, etc. The third section talks about the formats in which the results of qualitative research can be presented. Each chapter contains an explanation of key concepts and at the same time shows examples and possible algorithms for working with data. The publication is addressed to a wide range of readers - students, researchers, teachers implementing projects and teaching disciplines on the methodology and methods of social research.
