Based on data from monitoring studies conducted by the Institute of Sociology FCTAS RAS, it identifies key vectors of change in public consciousness, initiated by the "Crimean Spring" and the subsequent confrontation with the West. The analysis demonstrates that over the decade, the public consciousness has overcome the "self-abasement syndrome," and a persistent demand has formed for Russia's restoration as one of the leading world powers. This demand is pragmatic in nature and is linked primarily to expectations of internal socio-economic development, rather than the revival of a Soviet-style military superpower. A cardinal shift in identitarian preferences has also been recorded: Russians increasingly less identify themselves with Europe and are increasingly inclined toward the concept of Russia as a distinct civilization. The conclusion is made that reactions to crises demonstrate the dominant instrumental rationality (M. Weber) among Russians, characterized by a measured correlation of ends and means. Society responds to foreign policy crises pragmatically, adapting to new realities and, when necessary, shifting its focus from global threats to issues of personal and societal resilience.
