Abstract

The aim of the study is to analyze the cultural foundations of social integration in the context of various theoretical approaches to the study of society and culture. The research methodology is based on historical and comparative methods, as well as general scientific research methods. Research results: Cultural mechanisms – values, norms, symbols, rituals, and institutions–are the foundation of social integration, ensuring social cohesion through shared meanings and practices. We have examined a number of theoretical concepts that analyze the role of culture in the implementation of social integration. Although these concepts are based on different understandings of the nature of society and social relations, they all agree that it is culture that plays the main role in ensuring social integration and achieving social harmony. At the same time, many of the authors we looked at point out that culture can be not only an integrating factor, but also a disintegrating one, and that internal heterogeneity and contradictions within culture can be the result of systemic and structural contradictions in society. In this regard, there is a need for targeted efforts to maintain the cultural unity of society and overcome the negative impact of structural factors that hinder integration at the cultural level
