Abstract

The chapter delves into the realm of sustainable development, focusing on the intersection of green jobs, economic growth, and social policies. It addresses the pressing issues of climate change, energy, agriculture, and public health, emphasizing the need for holistic solutions for a well-being economy. Here described, how green jobs refer to employment opportunities within industries that focus on environmentally sustainable practices and technologies. These jobs are centered around reducing environmental impact, transitioning to a more sustainable economy, and promoting social well-being, addressing issues such as climate change, resource conservation, and social inequality while contributing to the overall well-being of both human and non-human life. The concept of green jobs emphasizes the importance of aligning eco- nomic activities with environmental conservation efforts for a more sustain- able future. Key points covered include the significance of legal and institutional changes and social prectices for green job creation, the role of social policies intransitioning workers to green occupations, and the principles of sustainable development essential for legal regulations. Case studies illustrated the pro-cess of the green jobs creation and implementation of the different social policies instruments. Overall, the chapter underscores the importance of integrating green job strategies into policy-making, emphasizing equity, human-centric decision-making, promoting pro-environmental behaviour and workforce investments for a sustainable future.
