Abstract

This chapter describes the primary challenges that the fashion industry is cur- rently facing in terms of sustainable development. The presented approaches represent the key directions in facilitating the transition to and supporting the green fashion industry. Special emphasis is placed on the circular economy approach as a necessary vector of progress, the concepts of green and socially oriented business, the principles of their establishment, and the promotion of green fashion products and environmental social practices. Various stakeholders participate in the processes of production, consumption, and environmental practices to ensure effective regulation. Standards, rules, and effective policies are essential elements, which are underscored in this chapter. Understanding consumer needs and behaviors is vital for comprehending how the adoption of ethical and environmentally friendly consumption can be propagated. Consequently, sociology and social psychology, within the context of sustainable behavior, are intrinsic components of the sustainability agenda in the fashion industry.
