The book provides an interim summary of the research into socio-structural transformations in Russia and China, reflecting the dynamics of ongoing processes in the context of global challenges of modern world. Based on the theoretical and methodological principles of studying social structure in the context of cultural differentiation, the processes of change in the demographic structure, regional and settlement structures, family structure and marriage, and employment structure are considered. The book presents an analysis of the transformation of the income structure and the associated structural changes in consumption in Russia and China. The issues of digital inequality and the specifics of social mobility in the context of modernization are covered. The analysis presented in the book is based on government statistics data, as well as large-scale surveys of city population conducted by Russian and Chinese researchers (monitoring surveys of the Institute of Sociology of FSTAS RAS, RLMS-HSE, China Social Survey (CSS)). The book might be of interest to social scientists and researchers engaged in comparative international studies. It could also inform government officials, university lecturers, students and all those who are willing to expand their knowledge of social structure, Russian and Chinese societies.
