Abstract

This article shows that the educational migration of Tajik citizens over the past two decades has become one of the most intensive flows of academic mobility in Central Asia. In this context the article consideres some theoretical and conceptual approaches to the interpretation of educational migration. Shows the geographical distribution of Tajik students across the world. Reveals demographic and socio-economic factors (high proportion of young people, international exchange programs, career opportunities, cultural and linguistic aspects of host countries) as well as problems (financial burden of households, “brain drain”, processes of (re)adaptation of students, disproportion of needs of the national labor market and foreign educational programs) of educational migration from Tajikistan. Concludes that it is necessary to improve the national educational system, create attractive conditions for the return of graduates and develop strategies aimed at integrating their knowledge into the country’s economy
