The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the structure and content of the concepts of «patriotism» and «national security». The purpose of this study is to reveal the content of the above-mentioned concepts, and the task is to identify the interrelationships and interdependence that exist between patriotism and national security. The article uses methods of data collection, processing and analysis, content analysis of publications on this topic, and secondary data analysis as tools for scientific research. The second part of the study is devoted to the analysis of domestic regulatory documents on ensuring the national security of our country, identifying external sources of threats to national security in the post-Soviet period of our country's history, as well as the destructive influence of domestic elites on it. The effective part of the study reveals the dialectical dependence of national security on traditions, orientation, condition and effectiveness of patriotic education of the population. At the end of the publication, the authors concluded that the national security of a country is directly dependent on the ability of the state and society not only to ensure the continuity of generations in preserving and promoting traditional values, but also, in modern historical conditions, to protect them from external destructive influences from the collective West. It is also noted that the relevance of studying the phenomenon of national security in the context of the desire of the collective West to maintain its leading positions and the desire of the leadership of our country to defend the role of the leader of the movement to form a polycentric world order based on the principles of international law, mutually beneficial cooperation and ensuring national sovereignty will only increase. The issues of patriotism and national security are actualized both in regulatory state documents and in the field of modern socio-scientific research. The extreme importance and significance of the problem under study and its high theoretical and scientific-practical relevance in the future are noted.
