Abstract

In their article, the authors analyze the problems of stratification in modern Russian society, and identify the specifics of changes in the composition of social classes, strata and groups. This is important for forecasting the further development of society and preventing the negative consequences of social transformations. The article is based on the results of the authors’ sociological research conducted in 2024 in five representative regions of the Russian Federation (Penza, Tolyatti, St. Petersburg, Tambov and Republic of Adygei). Opinion polls were conducted based on a random sample. The socio-professional composition of the respondents was represented by students, industrial employees, office workers, individual entrepreneurs, temporarily employed (precariat), and housewives. The age of respondents was 16-45 years old and 50+. The research was based on an analysis of the quality of life of Russians of different sexes and ages, and the impact of lifestyle features on their attitude towards the existing social order in society. A number of negative aspects of the life of Russians have been identified, which are typical for today. The authors concluded that it was expedient to apply such studies in sociology.
