In the context of the transformation of the geopolitical situation and socio-economic dynamics, it is important to conduct a comprehensive analysis aimed at identifying key factors affecting interethnic integration, regional identity and values of the republic's residents. The purpose of this study is to study the public opinion of Crimeans regarding the geopolitical course of 2014, the level of social tension, as well as factors contributing to its escalation. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the importance of interethnic problems and their potential impact on the social stability of the region. The empirical base of the study was formed on the basis of data from a survey conducted by the Crimean branch of the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the spring of 2025. 700 respondents living in major cities of Crimea took part in the survey. The results of the study and their discussion. An analysis of the survey data revealed several key trends characterizing the current state of interethnic relations in Crimea: 1. Interethnic integration in Crimea is characterized by contradictory processes, including both positive and negative aspects. On the one hand, the high level of integration potential of the Crimean society indicates the preservation of stable social cohesion and readiness for consolidation. The majority of respondents express confidence in the correctness of the geopolitical course of 2014, which contributes to the strengthening of regional identity. 2. On the other hand, the survey results demonstrate respondents' concern about rising prices and the risks associated with conducting a special military operation. These factors can contribute to increased social tension and the actualization of interethnic problems. There is a threat of escalation of interethnic confrontation and the growth of social discord, which requires prompt intervention by researchers, authorities and law enforcement agencies. Given the lack of attention to these problems and the lack of effective measures to neutralize them, there is a risk that the positive potential of regional identity will transform into a negative factor that increases social tension and disintegration processes. Conclusion. Thus, interethnic relations in Crimea are characterized by complex dynamics, including both integration and disintegration trends. To ensure social stability and sustainable development of the region, it is necessary to systematically monitor the interethnic situation, as well as develop and implement comprehensive measures aimed at reducing social tension and strengthening interethnic integration.
