Abstract

This volume of the Collected Works of P.A. Sorokin (1886–1968) includes articles and reviews written by him during the First World War – in 1915, 1916, and in the first months of 1917 (before the revolution). The main topics that concerned him during these years were the problems of new social pedagogy, morality (a polemic with V. Vinnichenko), the family, the ongoing war, and, of course, the problems related to his main specialty, law. These years were also marked by the sudden and premature deaths of his beloved teachers, E.V. De-Roberti and M.M. Kovalevsky... To these sorrowful events, the grateful and devoted student considers it his duty to respond and writes a number of articles, which are collected together for the first time in this volume. It can be said that these years mark the end of Pitirim Sorokin's "years of apprenticeship."
