Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that determine demographic and migration processes, the trends and features of demographic dynamics, and the contribution of natural and migration growth to the demographic development of the ethnonational regions of the Russian Federation over the past fifteen years. The study was conducted on the bases of a database of demographic indicators for the ethnonational regions of Russia for the period from 2010 to 2023. Rosstat data of the number and demographic structure of the population of the ethnonational regions of the Russian Federation and the main demographic coefficients were used as sources of information. Data from All-Russian population censuses were used to analyze the national composition of the population. The authors of the article propose substantiate of the methodology for a comprehensive assessment of the demographic situation in ethnonational regions. The authors have developed a typologization of ethnonational regions by demographic parameters and highlighted and specific features of the demographic development of the Russian ethnonational regions. In general, the ethnonational regions show relatively low productivity of international migration, while interregional migration is diversified both in directions and in scale. The results of the study can be used by the authorities in developing measures of demographic and migration policy in the ethnonational regions of the Russia Federation.
