Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyse social technologies of urban management at the municipal level and to identify their managerial potential and limitations for sustainable development of medium-sized cities. Six social technologies implemented in the territory of municipalities of the Russian Federation are identi ed. The author's model of social technologies for sustainable development of medium-sized cities in Central Russia is presented. The methodological principles of social technologies application by municipal administrations are de ned. The authors identify managerial peculiarities and existing limitations in the application of social technologies by municipal authorities of medium-sized cities. The authors analysed the results of sociological surveys on the sustainable development of medium-sized cities and the experience of implementing municipal programmes in municipalities. The authors conclude with recommendations on the application of social technologies in medium-sized cities of the Russian Federation.
