Special attention is given to students of pedagogical universities as future transmitters of values and meaning. The empirical base includes a mass survey (n = 1600), a series of in-depth interviews with respondents (n = 60), and an expert survey (n = 12). The questionnaire covered thematic blocks related to self-identification, perception of symbolic space, civic practices, value orientations, and a sense of social justice. The data reveal a predominance of formal identification with citizenship and the presence of a generally positive emotional attitude toward the country. At the same time, behind these stable indicators lie internal ambivalence, critical distance, fragmented identification strategies, and heightened sensitivity to experiences of injustice. Interviews with respondents and experts suggest that civic identity among students is shaped in a context of value hybridity, combining collectivist and individualist orientations, local rootedness, and openness to global horizons. The findings indicate that the process of identification is influenced less by official rhetoric and more by the quality of the symbolic environment, everyday experiences, and access to participatory practices. The study contributes to a more nuanced understanding of civic identity among student youth, highlighting the risks, resources and preventive potential of its developmentof, and emphasizing the significance of the educational environment as a space of symbolic and value-based interaction.
